Do you think straights going to gay clubs inhibit gay men from feeling comfortable in 'their own space'? Well-meaning 'gay tolerant' straights treat us like a trendy new fad to be gawked at.

How do you as a gay man feel about that?

There is a difference between being supported and being treated like a circus animal who performs tricks for an audience.

Most straight girls go to gay clubs and say to me "God, you gay guys have the best party drugs. You gays really know how to party! Do that funny voice like "Jack" does in Will & Grace..he, he, he,he....."

Number 1. I don't do drugs.
Number 2. I really don't 'party' I go for one drink and talk to my friends for 20 minutes. I hardly call that 'partying'.
Number 3. I don't watch "Will & Grace" Who the hell is Jack???

Anybody, gay or straight, who walks up to a person and asks them to perform a stereotype is a jerk. It doesn't have to do with them being gay or being straight, it has to do with them being rude.

Anybody who's being 'tolerant' of another person's lifestyle shouldn't be going anyway, because tolerant implys putting up with. I love my friends, and if they haven't hooked up with a jerk, I usually love their SO's (it doesn't matter if the friend is gay, bi, or straight).

No. I don't act any differently than I always have nor do any of the other people that I know. I'm not self-conscious of my actions or ashamed to do anything in front of heterosexual people in the Gay bar than I would be in an all gay setting. Everywhere I have ever gone, if heterosexuals in the crowd began causing problems they were tossed out of the club in short order.
The number of so-called "mixed" clubs foster a better understanding between the heterosexual and homosexual communities and I encourage them.
Ah that's right, for you "gay" is simply something you do with your penis. Ah well....perhaps you should just host Circuit Parties in your home to be comfortable.

We dont' act any differently when we go out dancing that we did 15 years ago (my partner and I) -- I don't think its got any negatives, and I think its got lots of positives. The time will come when there won't be gay or straight clubs -- just clubs, and everyone will be happy with everyone else. Prejudice will end, and with it the need for insulation. That day is greatly to be hoped for to greet the as yet unborn.

Reynolds Jones (and Jonathan Marc Fox - since I mentioned both of us)

i don't mind straight's in gay bars... it's usually straight females that like going there sometimes with their bf's. I think if a straight guy is in the bar he's not really straight--- and should not be offended if he gets hit on. Anyhow, I'm tolerant---

I really don't mind if Straights go to our clubs and venues...
as long as they behave themselves....
keep their PDA's at a minimum..
not try and force their beliefs on us..
