They need a balanced diet of fresh fruits and veggies along with a fortified food formulated specificially for guinea pigs (get it at the pet store or a feed center), timothy hay (not alfalfa hay) and some vitamin c supplement for the water bottle.

Guinea pigs need a stable diet daily of hay. This should be good quality timothy or alfalfa hay with a minimal amount of dust and dirt. Many people give their guinea pigs alfalfa pellets as a substitute, but this should be a supplement. If the piggies don't get enough roughage and hay to chew on, their teeth begin to grow too long (the front teeth and the back molars which you can't see). Guinea pigs need hay (not straw) to chew on to wear down their teeth.
Additionally you can supplement the guinea pigs diet with grains and seeds. However, if you give too many of these the piggies will easily get too fat, which is also unhealthy.
As a special treat, but not as the main part of the diet, you can give guinea pigs bits of veggies like carrots, celery, cucumbers and greens like lettuce, spinach, etc. However, if you give the guinea pigs too many fresh treats, especially lettuce, it will give the animal diarrhea. So, take it easy on the fresh treats.

Guinea pigs eat a variety of fresh fruit such as fruit oranges apples pears strawberries broccoli beans cauliflower fresh hay and a quantity ofpellets. They also need vitamin c in their diets i because they are the only animal that does not absorbit naturally in their diets. They also like to graze on grass and give them, freshwater every day. do not overfeed them either once in the morning and at night. We have guinea pigs ourselves.
