I went out for a Drink and a chinease meal with family last sunday night and in the early hours of monday morning I started being Violently sick, this went on for 10 hours straight every five min or so I was being sick. I felt ok the next day but that evening I had dirroeah and really bad stomach ache. It started coming and going and on thursday I seemed fine untill the evening Just lately if I eat anything remotly greasy or oily it sits on me and gives me hell, We went for a meal that night and as soon as I had eaten it went straight through me. Since then I've had the stomach ache and dirroeha really badly. The pain in my stomach is so bad I can't sleep properly at night. I have got IBS so I'm not really supposed to take anything for dirroeha. I went to see a DR on friday ( i couldn't see my own). He acted as like I was wasting mhis time I was trying to explain that I have IBS etc etc and he just printed off a perscription and gave it to me he didn't even explain what it was for IBs.

Sounds like a good case of food poisoning....Which you will need antibiotics for.....I have IBS and take dyclonamine to slow it down, also prevacid twice a day. These work for me unless I eat or drink something I shouldn't and you did, you ate duck which is a really really rich and fatty meat, bet you didn't know that. Return to doctor when you can see your regular one.....I'm sure he'll help you more than "Mr Too Important To Listen"...Hope you feel better...Remember with diarrhea drink lots of fluids so you don't get dehydrated.....

Oh I also experienced the same things before many times! Like.... diarrhea.. mostly of water with bits of.. s*** (hehe)... then after five mins or so, there's it again... and while you're sleeping... oops! I forgot what the doctor said but it wasn't really serious... my stomach's really sensitive and I'm guessing that it must be caused by some bacteria or something from the foods I ate... the longest period I had before recovery was 1 week.. I'm used to it so it didn't bother me whenever I had it lol. Sorry don't know what IBS means. If the doctor said there's nothing to be worried about, then don't worry 'cause it'll be over soon. Just don't forget to drink your medicines and drink lots of water to replace the fluids you lost.

Personally, I would go to accident & emergancy, and tell them the problems you are having. I presume you live in the UK, from your experience with the doctor and him telling you your wasting his time (typical NHS doctor). The pain in your stomach is worrying and could be caused by many things, so I would tell them that when going to A & E. Just make sure you don't take no for an answer, and if they send you home, I would call 999 and admit yourself. You are not wasting time by calling 999, the NHS are useless and need to be told sometimes.

Hope this helps.

Let me know how you go.

MG

PS Yes I do hold a grudge against the NHS for many reasons, but don't let this go, as they will just see you as another statistic.

Regards

I have IBS so i really know how you feel. first of all i would completely cut out any oily, greasey or food that irratates you for at least a week! and no alcohol! take 1 fibrogel a day and this will sort out your diarroeah. stick to food like chicken and rice and stuff with fibre in it that you dont have a problm digesting. like weetabix or porriage. drink plenty of water and fruit juice! dont drink fizzy drinks coz it makes you bloated and can cause you more pain. for the pain try come ibuprofen or paraceptamol. if you get severve abdominal spasms take buscopan. you can get that without a prescription at any chemist. i would also recomend peppermint tea! it aids digestion and helps with stomch pain too! you can get this from most suppermarkets. good luck and i wish you well!

The Greeks who know all about food poisoning, eat lots of plain boiled rice with a squeeze of lemon on.
Try that for a day, then go to the doctor if its still bad.
Dont take anything a chemist will prescribe.

Hi, it sounds like food poisoning to me so take every bodies advice and go to accident and emergency and insist they examine you properly. My confidence in NHS doctors has been shaken more than once so make them aware that it's your body and you know when something is wrong with you and don't be fobbed off by them, your problem needs to be investigated. Good luck

feel sorry for you. do you eat chinese food regularly. it is normal for the cook to add some MSG powder into the meal, this is what makes them taste so good, but you may be the odd one who has an attack from eating the msg. see another doctor and explain about the chinese meal starting it off. hope you get well soon

sounds like food poisoning as symptoms started within hours of eating. has any one else been ill? your ibs may be aggrivating the problem. stick to a very bland low fat low dairy diet, drink plenty of water. go see the doctor again and insist he sends samples off this time. you may need antiobiotics.
