Because they are bored, to appear more outrageous than they really are and at least you can hide the signs of a piercing but when you get a tattoo you can't exactly hide that. so definitely to appear more outrageous than they really are.
But when it comes to piercings that no one can see, such as the nipple, cl*t and c*ck then this would definitely be for the more pleasurable reasons, hmmmm.

They get piercings for many different reasons:
To fit in with people they are hanging out with
Thats the look they want to achieve
They like the pain from piercing

The same reason why anyone gets an earring. It is jewelery and decorative. Its just in a different place. Some people like it because others have it and its trendy while others like it because they are expressing themselves. I got pierced for the experience.

well i have 7 in total i first got my ears done as a child to look pretty and acceserise then i got older and i got more i like the way they look the way they feel . i also like the adrenaline and pain from getting it done . ears tongue nose nipples belly

I got mine because I like the way they look.
And my friends won't let me go within 10 feet of them unless I have them... some people do just like the way they look.

In the ears? -so they can accessorize and wear matching ear rings with each outfit.
the other ones are just so we can look different and adventurous.
