I am 39.5 weeks pregnant. ok i have been having contractions for 3 days non stop. they are only painful at night. The painfull ones start around 8 30 pm at night and start at around 30 mins apart and get down to 4 mins apart by around 4 am in the morning then the pain subsides.I also get these real bad stabbing pains in my vagina while i get the bad contractions. I feel my stomache tighten up and go a weird shape and then i get a real bad period type pain and it lasts around 80 seconds. I only get a few bad ones during the day all the rest are painless but i can still feel my tummy tighten. i was just wondering has anyone else gone through this with a previous pregnancy and how long did it go on untill you had your bub? please dont tell me to go to the hospital as i live in australia and i have called the hospital already and they tell you to come in when they are constant and at 4 mins apart and the pain is severe. They wont admit you until you are 4 cm dialated here. thanks

Sounds like your body is getting prepared for labor. I had this for about 4 days before my son. I went in to the ER very worried and they sent me home... twice. Finally, I had my son - a whopping 11.2 lbs! ;)

Whoever said labor was a beautiful experience must not have ever been pregnant!

I would call your doctor though on Monday - or tomorrow if you are still concerned. You may not be able to go to the ER - but you should be able to interupt your docs weekend ;)

I got tired of being put off over the phone- we turned up in A&E and told them what was going on- if it's your first bub, they're quite understanding...but you sound like you're going into labour- I had constant pain for 3 days leading up to birth- his head was jammed right into the cervical area, causing pain whenever I sat down (vaginal)- we ended up going in as the contractions were 2 mins apart, but not painful themselves, and I was only 3cms dilated- they admitted me and he was born 15 hrs later, all natural and not induced...If I were you, I would just turn up, get checked out and chances are, that if you're there, they'll induce anyway-you're very close at 39.5 weeks!!!!and Good luck...

Woman are you brave! I have had two other children and this will be my third. I was dilated to three both times and they admitted me. However real labor has a rhythm that you can time 5 min and under. When this comes and goes constant for two hours call the Dr and make your way to the hospital. Don't wait till it's to late. This could cause stress on you and the baby. Just listen to your body and trust your instinct. blessing on a safe delivery.

yep your okay. just remember to breath and focus on other things other than the painful ones.

All it is is that your prepping to have the bubbers soon. GL!
