I've taken self defense classes for years. I could probably take down Arnold schwartzenegger in his prime. I'm not afraid of anyone. I'm not saying I'm invinceable, I'm just not afraid cause I know I can do some damage. Even if I lost I'd still feel good about my effort.

It's funny how vehemently some women will argue for their own inferiority!! Sad, really.... On average, men are stronger than women - but by no means is this an absolute. Honestly, in a hand-to-hand fight between a man and a women from our culture - I think that the man would win, unless the woman was of exemplary intellect. Why? From birth, women are taught that they cannot fight, that it's bad for a 'girl' to fight or show ferocity of any sort. It would take a special woman - and I do believe that there are many out there - to shed that social programming...... Unfortunately!!!

I had to laugh at many of these answers. I am amazed! Many of you truly believe the he-women you see portrayed in movies and commercials are real!
Newsflash: as a GENDER, men are stronger. In a fair fight between a regular sized man and a regular sized woman with no special training on either side, the MAN will win most every time because that is the nature of things.
Girls, come on. Get over your "Girl Power" adolescence.

There is a very good possibility the woman would win by default. Most (not all) guys are taught to never, under any circumstances, hit a woman/girl where woman have been taught it doesn't matter if you hit a guy because they are not supposed to hit back.

Women have excellent flexibilty so that would be an excellent advantage. I think it's also more in the mind of the people fighting.Women are more emotionally driven wheras men are more physical, so if the female can channel all her mental agression into the fight then I would definately say the woman would win.

it wouldn't be a fair fight,all you girls have to do hit me between the legs and it is game over. even a light tap there makes it impossible to continue so I think in a fight if it was serious you win... and if i try to protect that area then I leave open my face and throat... also women's legs are longer than mens are and we can't account for the difference...

Um it really depends, but if they were both the same size and the same strength then yea definately! I hate to say it but women are usually smaller then men but in a war we could definately win! And anyway we have the power over them!

its not size or gender, its speed and skill. if a females has no skill male with or without skill could use his strength to win. a female with skill could hit sencitive areas (throat, eyes, groin, ect) and subdue him. anyone can throw someone bigger over thei shoulder if they use the person's momentum and then they will be on the ground with little to no defense
