A chicken comes from an egg,
An egg comes from a chicken,

:: However, they are not the same being. So, the real question is what distinguishes them from each-other.

An egg is the pre-beginning of any chicken's existence.

A chicken will form an egg. An egg is the pre-beginning and product of any chicken.

Though the contents of the egg may change (it may contain a mutant chicken), the chicken itself must maintain a set criteria.

Therefore! The egg must have come before the Chicken.

E.g:

An ancient form of bird was once alive and only had one wing.
This bird is called a "Gurkin". A Gurkin has one wing.
A Gurkin produces an egg that contains a bird a with two wings.
A Chicken is "a bird with two wings".
The Chicken came before the Egg.

P.S: Chickens, in this scenario, are the only birds in existence that have two wings.

No one evolved. God made chickens so there were chickens who had eggs and made more chickens. So I guess chicken came first because you can't like have an egg if it ain't got a mama.

I don't know but ill tell you this, the other night for dinner we had chicken and salad. Half way through, i noticed i had both on my plate. It was ironic that the chicken (even though it had hatched and lived) still ended up on my dinner plate! So my point is it doesn't really matter which came first because they both end up in the same place in the end!!!!!!lol

Chickens come from repties. So, maybe a more appropriate question would be "what came first? the lizard or the egg."
