These two Yankees have tremendous talent, youth, and tenacity.

I am not saying that they deserve to be in the Hall of Fame today. I just feel that if they both get to play, the sky is the limit for those two. Cano is already amazing for his age, and Cabrera just needs experience. I think that both of them have the ability to destroy competition, IN THE FUTURE.

Both players are young. At this point in time, I'd have to say that they are NOT Hall of Famers. They have to prove a lot in the future to acheive this status.

They will be very good players, but the Hall of Fame may be a bit of a stretch. Cano is impressive, but he's too slow of a runner to be a defensive standout or a great offensive player. Also, sometimes, he seems to try to hit homers when he should try for singles. Melky Cabrera has a great arm, but I'm not sure that his hitting ability is Hall of Fame-worthy. Also, he may have just had one good year. With some players, you never know how they'll be next season.

My point: Cano will be a very good player for the Yankees in the future, even next season. Cabrera will also be impressive. However, expect him to be traded. The Yanks have a full outfield with Matsui, Damon, and Abreu. Cabrera is great trade-bait now, so he could be used in a big deal, possibly for a starting pitcher. (You never know when Johnson will have problems, especially at his age.)

well Robinson Cano has a lot of potential and has proven that he can play in New York, so with Jeter and Bernie Williams as his guidance, he could become a HOFer. Cano just needs to stay healthy and he is in a good position. Now, for Mekly Cabrera it is too early to determine how great of a player he will become. His playing time in New York will decrease unless somebody gets injured, but he also has great potential and something that most people dont know is that the improved from 2005 to 2006 was him playing Winter Ball in the Dominican Republic because he improved as a player and got use to the pressure of playing in a big stage. In Dominican Republic, the pressure is equal to or more than the pressure in New York City because they are more emotionally into it than the people over here. So you might never know how good either of them might be but they both have huge potential

to get into the HOF you have to play a lot, many many years and have many many many many great ones.

Cano has just broken in, and has been amazing, but 2 years is not 20.

Cabrera cannot even get a starting gig at this point, so that is not good for him. I think the yankees should trade him and give him a chance to play elsewhere. They won't, but he played well enough last year to get hte starting spot for the rest of 2006, and onwards, but no.. they had to make a trade, which they always will, and the Yankees will ruin this guys career by never letting him play.

Way way too early to tell.

Cano is more talented, Melky is an ok player but he'll never be a star.

Even today all the all-star roster that is the NY Yankees, if everyone's careers ended today, only randy and Mo would be locks to go in, with A-Rod and DJ very strong candidates and Torre in on the strength of playing and managing.

To call HoF careers at their age is way OTT.

You are letting the GREATNESS of the NY Yankees cloud your judgement. Cano is a solid player and if he could continue to put up the numbers he has for another 15 years, HOF is a possibility.
But Melky, c'mon now, as he filled in nicely for the injured outfield, even if he continued to put his numbers up, those numbers would not hold up to the high standards of the HOF. Take off the interlocking NY glasses and smell the coffee.

Uh yeah, right. And let's not forget Fernando Arroyo. How can you even think about the Hall for these guys - they haven't even proven themselves yet. Shouldn't David Wells go into the Hall as well? The Hall of Fame is supposedly for players who have distinguished themselves with an outstanding career over a minimum of 10 years.

Cabrerra won't make it the Yankees will use him as trade bait soon. Cano is a different story he has a lot of ability. However he does not have a lot of power so he will have to play at this level for the next 15-20 years to make it into the hof.

Don't get me wrong both of the afore mentioned are really good players, but so much can happen in a career. Take Mattingly, injury plagued his career and not enough years in the leagues to really warrent a place in the hall. Sad but true, post this in about 15 years
