The Yankees need a strong right handed first baseman. Giambi needs to be designated hitter next season. I wish Tino never retired.

I wish the Yankees would concentrate on pitching. OK, now I know why they are hell bent on picking him up, its the fact that he bats right. Think about the line up here, we're loaded with lefties...(this is merely speculation as to the lineup)

Damon---left
Jeter---right
Giambi---left
A-Rod---right
Abreau---left
Matsui---left
Cano--- left
Posada---switch
1st base--- right

it's a right handed batter need more than anything

Andy Phillips bats right though, but a big question mark

to answer your question... no I hope they avoid Hillenbrand, too much mouth

I seriously hope not. Hiilenbrand is not a team player. His attitude and mouth have ran him out of Toronto and Boston and LA i believe. Yankees have enough bats in their lineup they dont need him. Andy Phillip is just fine. He's cheap, young and plays solid defense. Giambi should share DH with Matsui, while Matsui share LF with Melky, who has a better glove than Matsui. Plus "The Cashman' has repeatedly stated he wants to cut payroll and what ever Shea Hillenbrand is asking for in this market today is ridiculous. Yanks already have the best line up in MLB. All they need is a solid glove to back Giambi.

Shea is an option but I've heard they are after some Japanese FA, Julio Zuleta, 31.

Not sure I'd want SheAAAA in the Bronx but I agree with the Giambi for F/T DH sentiments.

they need a right handed first baseman, and there are not a lot available, and even less of quality.

Phil Nevin, Shea, or Wilson about the only FA left, a really poor field.

Who could the yankees trade for? realistically?

It would just be easier and better for the club to bring back Wilson.

I hope not. I hear he's a disruption as was witnessed by the troubles he had last year with his previous stint. I'm not sure he would do well in the NY atmosphere. I would hope that they would give Andy Phillips a chance to show his stuff. He had flashes of brilliance but since he wasn't the everyday player his Stats suffered. Giambe will be the DH.

his attitude should keep him out of NY. They will find someone but Hillenbrand is not the answer

They will, he has an aggresive winning attitude and they need the backup, and he can hit. As a red sox fan, i dont wanna see him go there, meaning its probably a good deal for them
