I feel that many people today feel lust instead of love. Lust defeats love instead. So, example, a girl rejects her true love just because she is infatuated with another boy. Does this not harm the chance of a happy future? And why is this so? Isn't love supposed to be the best feeling?

I believe if you chose lust over love you don’t have much of future with the person. Yeah you might have a good couple of months with one another but not a long future with them, because lust eventually wares off whereas love is supposedly forever. I think people chose lust over love because it’s a quick gratification. Love takes time and you usually stand a chance of getting hurt, but with lust there are less feelings involved and the chances of getting hurt are minimal, but with all that said I would chose love every time

Perhaps many people feel lust rather than love. Many people are not romantic. They just succumb to their loins.

Personally I feel love & lust for my partner. That's the best. One fuels the other. To have intense desire & adoration, to love someone physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually & to feel a bond with them on every level is mind-blowingly amazing. People who settle for physical lust are missing out on real passion. If you don't really care about someone you'll never experience the depth of true intimacy.

Or maybe I'm just an old-fashioned romantic...

You mention a girl's head being turned by another boy. This is another problem people have. Once they've been with someone a long time it evolves into more of a friendship & loses that spark that they had in the beginning when it was new. Then when someone new comes around, it feels so exciting & different that you may be tempted. But true love means more than a superficial attraction. Sadly many people leave their relationships (or are unfaithful) because they want that excitement. Ironically, this "new & exciting" fling will eventually become the safe & dull relationship that you left. So many people dispose of relationships whenever they lose their lustre. So people divorce, remarry or break up & start again, or try to have their cake & eat it too (cheating on their partner so they can have their safe person at home & their excitement on the side. This is morally wrong, cowardly & unfair to everyone involved.)

The key to a lasting romance that never fades is to find someone you are intensely attracted to & best friends with. Someone who makes your heart race when you see them, but someone who you also feel very comfortable with & could talk to for hours about anything. Someone you could never get tired of. Your soulmate. This is rare to find.

Lust is the foundation of love. Love takes years to develop. Lust brings a couple together and gives a physical aspect to a relationship. Only after deep knowledge of one another can actual love develop. Love at first sight is impossible. That should be lust at first sight. The feeling of love is much less intense than the feeling of lust which is mistaken for love.

Hearts are becoming more shallow. Love is a lost definition. Its more of a process. I mean if you love someone you try not to hurt them and you stay with the one person. But you watch TV or go online and its like everyone forgot what a monogomous relationship is. I mean there are people out there who are capable of love but I think many get confused and dont know how to seperate love from lust

You can thank our ancestors who walked the savanahs of n. africa eons ago for the way our brains are wired. The survival instinct...the need to carry on our species meant only the alpha males sent their genes forward in time. What that means for modern man, of course, is we're left with obsolete genes. Our happiness, based on our rational part of the brain (cerebral cortex) is a more recent development...say the last 100,000 years. The more primitive limbic system, however, holds our deepest emotions, religious beliefs, and yes....lust.

Obsolete genes do not die overnite, so we'll be stuck with the lustful feelings for some time to come.

Men are more physically oriented as it relates to initial attraction. Women tend to put less emphasis in this regard. They are able to more readily look through this superficial focus, and are more likely to be attracted by personality.

Women want to find that special guy and procreate a family w/ him, whereas men want to spread their seed.

Ordinarily, the fusion of entities that are so far apart would be deemed a miracle but the catch here is, there are only 2 genders.

Such is the nature of our species.

As the m/f relationship develops, men become less enamored w/ her figure, and more concerned about who she is. Women confirm their initial evaluation of the man, and become more tolerant of his physical shortcomings.

The biggest problem is woman's fault. She makes it near impossible for man to please her because she herself is either uncertain about what she wants, or takes advantage of her "so called" privilege to change her mind.

The result: A woman will talk to one man while she looks at another, all the while thinking about a third.

Man has a mechanistic point of view bc he is the hunter. Woman are more instinctual. They look, however subconsciously, for the mate best able to provide for them and their offspring. So what a man see in another man, a woman never sees. They go for what their instincts tells them is a survivor. Love is an invention of man and as such does not really exist.

Will either one you have to make a descision. You just can't assume or can tell good or bad things will happen. Feelings change for one another. Yes love is the best feeling but sometimes people are confused and not know what to do, and you can't blame no one for that. You just have to choose what you want and think that will make you happy. =D
