I ordered an item online from what appeared to be a reputable retailer (damselworld.com). after a while i wrote them several times looking for my stuff; they finally responded with apolologies- claimed they had server troubles and my stuff was on the way. that was two months ago and they dont respond to email (there was no phone number on the site- an increasingly common trend that i really dont like).

any recommendations as to how to force their hand and return my money?

Did you make a copy and print the receipt for your items? I hope so. If you did, I would contact your credit card company and tell them that you don't know where this charge has come from (though you do know) and tell them that they need to do a charge-back to that company. Then contact VeriSign and ask them if this transaction went through them. Then WRITE a snail mail letter to the company and tell them the problem and send a COPY of the transaction and that you never received the item(s) from them and how are they going to rectify the situation. Threaten them that you will log a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If all else fails...
Become a very squeaky wheel. Bug um!

"damselworld"?
what did you buy, a blow-up doll?
keep copies of your purchase order and payment and all correspondence.
if it was me, I would first attempt to have my bank reverse the transaction. then I would try to find the company registered office and I would contact the office of Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs.
