its a good question.and i would luv to answer it.may b they are in sum or the other way jealous of each other or they dont want to see their frnds achieve it or its just as a co incidence their's a same time hobby but i think that first two answers are the reason .its today's world this is all hapenning even in my school.thankGOD i never wanted to b a head girl as it only disturbs studies

that happened to a few people I know too.it happens a lot.i guess some people change as they grow up.why don`t you just sit down with them and talk it over.that could help.
