Yes. Lots of times. I was taught to make a gratitude list:
I have lived many happy days and will again
I'm alive
My Kids are Healthy
I have a job
I am in love
I have a roof over my head
God loves Me
Mom Loves me
Dad Loves me
etc..
etc...
etc...
use your own experience and look at the positive side.
there's good stuff there you are just choosing to not see it.
If all else fails, interact with children it will reaffirm your belief in wonder and love and the caring purpose of life.

There have been times in my life where I have thought why do i bother. To the smallest things - like why do I bother cleaning my childs room because its dirty again to its all to hard and I think I will stay in bed - forever but then over the years i have developed some strategies. Write down a list of activities that make you feel better. And when you feel unhappy and nothing works out do some. These activities might be walking in the rain, running on the sand, having a hrebal bath, washing your hair, making a nice drikn - non alcoholic, reading, watching your favourite movie, ringing friends, aswering/asking yahoo etc. After awhile that negative time passes and you can move on. Hope i helped

In my job we're told to maintain equilibrium because of the nature of the work- it means you can frequently make a loss and hence the reaction of seniors can reinforce the self-view that one is really quite stupid. Then I go home and think life is boring difficult, disappointing and yes pointless. To maintain a sort of "equilibrium" I think about eating or where to go for lunch, dinner, or I just phone a friend for a general chat. I think you should take a walk, read a newspaper and change your mode of thinking at that crucial moment, maybe watch the news and really concentrate on something other than the initial thoughts.

I haven't just snapped out of it. Anyone who does "snap" out of it instantly must have been brainwashed or threatened. I currently believe that I will never find a point to life.
The only reason why I'm alive is because I'm human and I feel the need to find the point of life (it sucks when human nature starts controlling you, doesn't it?)
I really can't stand it when someone tries to change the subject when I ask them what the point of life is just because I ask countering questions to their answers, but hey, I guess I should do something about things I can't stand.
HAHAHA like that.
Have life like you want, not how others want,

I don't believe you can 'snap'. If happiness is a 10 and you're feeling at 1 then the most realistic goal is just a 2, if you can make yourself feel just a little better then its a real achievement. Even if thats just forcing a smile and finding one is returned or doing something (having a hot chocolate, a chat with a neighbour, buying a good book, reading the paper, relaxing in the bath) that makes you feel that you love yourself a little. Everyone needs to feel loved and I feel that our main purpose is to make other people happy. Happiness lies in small things, being listened to, smiled at, but we have to do it to first, if we all just did these small things that little happiness would spread and we'd all feel better,

Depends what you see as pointless. If you believe that for there to be a 'point' there has to be some greater purpose to it all, then yes, I feel it's ponitless. However, I am reminded of a quote in a book I read recently and it (roughly) said "Is it not possible to simply appreciate that the garden is beautifull without having to believe that there are fairies living at the bottom of it?"
Life can be enjoyed and appreciated without there having to be a point. I enjoy this ethos, being a pointless person myself.

that's a horrible feeling, i havn't had it often but just the fact that you're looking for ideas of how to snap yourself out of it means that you will!
you need to find a goal, something to propel you. Here's some examples, i'm not saying that they all apply to you though!
*lose weight
*take up a sport (it's just as good for mental health as for physical)
*change or find a job
*find a hobby
*dump your partner
*move to another area
Something that helps to lift my mood is to have a strong coffee and do something that i've been meaning to,do for ages, whether it be the huge pile of ironing, paperwork, springcleaning, going to see a friend.
If all else fails then a few glasses of whisky and half a packet of cigarettes does the trick!

Yes i know where you are coming from. The only thing i can do when i feel like this is try to make someone else feel better by putting myself out to do something for them. And i count my blessings. If you can walk down the street, a free man, then life is good.

Yes, but that is the time when you need to make space for yourself and list all that you have accomplished during your life time, 1. you will find that you have accomplished more than you give yourself credit for. 2. learn to love yourself if you don't love yourself how will you ever be able to love those around you. 3. set yourself goals and even if you do not reach your targeted goal in the specified time. 4. take time out once more see what you have achieved and you will be greatly surprised and inspired to even greater heights

Keep telling myself that the glass is half full.
There is no problem that I have no matter how big or small that makes me believe that life is pointless.
Don't let your troubles grind you down, face them one at a time, and say to yourself every day is a new day and a new start.
Believe in yourself and anything is possible.
