because you don't know who is going to work hard once they are in the nba and have a fat guaranteed contract, you don't know who's game will transfer well, you don't know much of anything about foreigners, you don't know who is going to get hurt, you don't know how players will respond mentally to having little responsibility tons of free time and millions of dollars and the pressure of being in the public eye, you just don't know who is really actually good enough to play and who was coasting on talent. because you are judging people who have good and bad days, and who make mistakes, and who all have different priorities and work ethics and talent levels

The NBA is a faster paced league for one thing. Some players get drafted onto teams that already have plenty of good players so they don't get much playing time meaning they can't develop in the NBA game. If players don't play much College ball and come to the NBA after only a year let's say they don't have enough College experience so they're not fully ready for the NBA in many cases. There have been a few big 1st pick busts that come to mind.
98 1st pick was the Kandi Man, he is horrible, he never developed and never will.
2001 was Kwame, now he is better than Kandi but he is still considered a bust to many. He is only 24 so he still has time to develop.

cause you have blokes like kandi man, talent, but lazy, will only be willing to work hard to get a good contract. you see the life's too good, that they just enjoy the ride and not care, cause they've made the dough. and some players develop later or hadn't been allowed to do this or that, or the coaching sucked in college, so there's variance, like duke best program out there, but the players they produce usually stink it up in pro-ball as they're too well trained and prepared and that's their edge. but some other programs have less rigid game plans and the players when they get to a place with a bit of structure then really blossom, like i mean some players need to play in a good system to succeed. and playing time etc helps look at k-mart down in sac-town, his ripping it up, when not much was expected of him, and latrell was not a big splash coming out of college, but got in a good spot and became a good player and masseuse.

what do you mean not exact science? sam bowie was a SWEET draft pick ahead of jordan. lol
how about #1 draft pick kwame brown. jordan demoralized that poor guy on the wizards and sapped any self-confidence that dude had. treated him like garbage.
i say the nba draft is so inexact because it is hard to tell which guys are gonna dig the cocaine and the waffle house for every meal and wanna bang all the hoochie flatbacker groupies instead of focusing on hoops. just way too many immature sh!tstains get drafted.
scout to shawn kemp: how tall are you?
shawn kemp: 6'11''
scout: gee, i didn't know they stacked sh!t that high.

Some of these guys who are in the NBA run on pure talent, there's no science that can explain the things the do in split seconds and with maximum pressured defence..it's like magic!

Because more players are spending less time in college. Scouts don't get to see them and evaluate them as much. They don't get to find out whether this player with mesh with the team o whatever

its not science because of the human psyche (sy-kee...I dont know if I spelled it right)...you could be the best player in the world but the human brain is a powerful thing and you are nothing without it.
