i have just purchased a porter cable kit ,what i need to know is what i do about the 2 pin plug that is supplied with it ? do i have to have a three pin 110 volt plug fitted is this possible to do this safely as the instructions say that it is double insulated , what does this mean and will converting it cause me any danger, please help because i am in danger of cutting the plug off and then finding out i have made a mess of it , thanks ,any help will be gratly appreciated.

You do not need to do a thing! Just plug it into any wall socket, or extension cord that is 110v and you are fine. The third prong is safety ground, and with a double insulated tool it is not required!

STOP
first check to see if unit is 110v.if it is you will need to get a 110v
transformer. if you just try a three pin plug in a 240v socket
you may hear a rather loud bang.(at best)
if the unit is 240 volt there will be no harm in cutting cable
and fitting normal plug.
ps also make sure of the polarity (is ac or dc)

I would say cut the plug off and put a three pin on there. You could always get a continental adaptor from an electrical store so you could leave the two pin plug on there.
