The only difference in Policing in this country is that more resourses have gone into the manipulation and management of crime statistics!
and there has been a very small increase of toothless, poorly trained and inefficient community support uniform carriers!!

The release of lunatics into the public arena really has very little to do with Tony Blaire. The measure was introduced during the 200 years of the Thatcherite Kingdom of Doom when it was understood to be much cheaper to allow murderous nutters out onto the streets provided they promised to take their daily medicine. Of course, few if any of these dangerous lunatics actually took their medicine. This resulted in them being back to their normal murderous state of mind - kill, kill and keep on killing.
The Thatcherites came up with this spiffing wheeze and named it SCARE IN THE COMMUNITY. It works and its cheap and so too is life in UK today.

I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS JUST BLAIR'S FAULT. I FEEL THE PROBLEM TO MOST CRIMES STEMS FROM THE HOME, A LOT OF THESE YOUNG OFFENDERS HAVE NO DISCIPLINE AND ARE ALLOWED TO DO WHAT THEY LIKE. AS FOR THE CARE IN THE COMMUNITY, THAT'S A JOKE. THEY SHOULD NOT OF GOTTEN RID OF ALL THE MENTAL HOSPITALS.

it was thought that "locking people away" was uncaring and against the human rights!
so the idea that WE should care for people in the community and let them self-medicate was the way forward.
for the main, it has worked but as shown, it is not always the case.
it is not a joke to those that have suffered as a result.
