My husband and I were at home, doing our usual morning things.
My husband was watching CNN on TV as usual. He said: A plane just hit one of the twin towers in New York city.
I said, oh - The pilot or the plane must have something wrong with it. That's too bad.
A few minutes later, my husband shouted: "omigosh - another plane is heading for the other tower." By this time I ran in to see what was happening.
I saw the 2nd plane go right into the 2nd tower. After a couple of moments, the 1st tower just sort of disintegrated. And the newscaster said: "oh my God". I remember thinking that that was quite unprofessional of him. Since I thought newscasters were supposed to be unbiased and unemotional. But I'm sure neither he nor any other reporter had ever seen anything like that.
Then the 2nd tower disintegrated too.
The horror of that sight is unforgettable - indelibly etched on my memories. It was so horrible that my mind tries to block it out completely. It can't cope with the conflagration that happened and the aftermath.
So very very sad and truly the end of the innocence of the American people.
Tears.

I just dropped off my child at school, when I stopped at the local quickstop for gas. The cashier behind the desk was watching the news and informed me what had happened. We watched the news together for a minute or two in disbelief, and then I hurried home and turned on the tv and continued to watch it along with the rest of the world. You do remember what you were doing at a time like that, or at least I did. It was something I'll never forget...all those poor people. It was so sad.

Yes, I remember! I was feeding my 4 month old daughter a bottle, it was just after 11.30pm in Australia, and I was flicking through the channels on Foxtel. I stopped on the Sky News channel just as the first plane hit. It was Very Surreal and I felt sick straight away, not just for the people involved in every way, but my sister and nephew were over in America at that time.
I will never forget that Day and the Sadness that followed for days, even weeks after! Even all the way from here, Down Under!

I was in Port Arthur, Texas. I don't remember what I was remembering, but I do remember I was in my apartment. My mom called to tell me. I had never heard of the twin towers, so I went back to sleep (not trying to be unsympathetic or anything).

i was asleep here in Australia. My mum and uncle were still awake at around 11:00PM when my mum said to my uncle,"Quick come out here. Then she showed him the towers collapsing. I think I will always remember that moment for the rest of my life. The story went on for weeks in the media! But it was such a tragedy.

I was at home asleep. While getting ready for work a friend called to tell me the US was being attacked. I turned on the TV and watched motionless for about 15 minutes. Then, started thinking...Do I go to work? The kids go to school? Then realized that of course we do. We're not in NY. Went to work and listened to the radio all day for updates.

I was getting ready for class during my freshman year of college. I walked out my room and a guy down the hall yelled at me to turn on my tv and I shouted back which channel. He yelled back any channel. At that point I was really confused. I turned on my tv just in time to watch the second plane hit. Its one of the few days in my life that I can remember the whole day in detail. I can still picture it in my head.

When I saw your question, just the
I automatically thought about the twin towers. I was in class, and our teacher turned the news channel on in our classroom. Then we went to the football feild and talked about it, and such. Was a sad day.

i was at home coming into the kitchen for breakfast w/ my parents and my little brother. it was early in the morning, before school. i don' t know why the radio was on, but it was. i didn't believe it cuz it was the station i always listen to and they had a goofy show in the mornings sometimes or else they were always just joking around. i just didn't proces that it was really happening. then i went to school and everyone was talking about like they weren't really sure if it had happened or not. it was weird.

I was doing my student teaching during my bachelor's degree and my next class came in all talking in low tones about what was on t.v. in their previous class. When I asked what was going on they tried to explain it to me and I just couldn't comprehend what they were saying...like, it just didn't click. I kept thinking..."This is one of those hoaxes, right?" And kept waiting for the punchline. Then the teacher I was working with turned on the t.v. and we were watching this incredibly horrific scene. She didn't think it was appropriate for the students to be watching it so she turned it off after 10 minutes and I kept thinking, "Can we just go home now? I want to be with my family." I couldn't believe that I couldn't watch what was going on at that moment and that they continued the school day and didn't let us just return home. Any other event would have warranted a cancellation, but thousands of Americans dying in a national event doesn't??? And we couldn't even stay updated? My next concern was, "Where next? I want to be with my family." I think everything should have been cancelled that day and people should have taken the rest of the day to be with their families. What I learned from this is that Americans are WAY too caught up in working and money. I don't ever want to be the type of American who chooses money over family.
