This can be a pretty rough world sometimes and the kind of emotional stress people have to deal with in our impersonal and industrial society is not something our species evolved to be able to cope with. Depression and feelings of hopelessness have become quite common symptoms of our modern, fast-paced, "civilized" world. If you are feeling hopeless right now, it doesn't mean anything's wrong with you, it may just be a message to you that there might be too much stress in your life or someone(including yourself) may be expecting more of you than what is reasonable. Take some time out doing something you enjoy or just get a piece of paper and right down the things that still bring you pleasure in this life or that make it all worthwhile (i.e. foods you enjoy, people you love, things you are grateful for). Sometimes we get so caught up in the details of life that we forget to step back and see the big-picture. Remembering your dreams and goals and making steps to achieve them is also a great way to get rid of hopelessness and bring back a feelings of purpose and enthusiasm for life
Note: If trying these things has no effect, then it is possible you may have a chemical imbalance that may be causing you to have these feeling. If you do, then it will only get worse with time and should definitely be treated either by traditional or alternative/natural means.
