Here are these cube / square problems.
1. A 3 sided pyramid is formed formed from 20 cubes.
The first layer is a triangle formed from 10 cubes. Each cube is assigned a unique number 1 through 10. The second layer is formed with 6 cubes. The third layer is formed using 3 cubes, and the fourth layer is a single cube. A cube in layers 2, 3 and 4 rest on 3 cubes under themselves, and are assigned a number which is the sum of those three cubes.
By rearranging the numbers on the first layer, what is the lowest possible value of the top cube?
2. A square board is checked with red and black squares. The board contains one more square touching it's edge than the number squares not touching an edge. What is the number of red squares times the number of black squares?
3. A large cube is formed from 1 inch cubes. What are the smallest dimensions of the large cube where the number of internal 1 inch cubes outnumbers the external cubes?
