Hi:
II didn't have to do exactly the same thing, but it is a little similar. I had to get a new laptop and move my music that I purchased on my old laptop. On the new laptop, I went ahead and installed Itunes, and charged up my Ipod. When I plugged it in, I was asked if I wanted to erase the setting on it or keep them. At the time, I kept the settings. Later, I moved my old itunes directory over to my new laptop. To do this, I had a backup from my old laptop on a external harddrive, so I copied the itunes directory from my backup drive over to the 'my music' directory on my new laptop and it worked like a champ. I found it a little annoying there didn't seem to be a built in utility available to make a move like that.
Hope this helps you - backup the directory if you can copy the original itunes directory onto a thumbdrive or external harddrive, you'll probably be set.

Yes, you can put your songs on a different iPod from the same library. I manage my iPod and both of my boys' iPods from my same computer and iTunes program. Dont worry, all is not lost!
Hope your find the one you lost, Good Luck!

you don't need to download itunes again. just connect your new ipod to your usb port and it will automatically sync your library to your new ipod.
