I work in a nursing home. Everyday, I have to lift heavy residents and work with residents who have several types of infections that include staph and MRSA. I also have only been pregnant twice and both pregnancies ended in miscarriage.

I am now nearly 6 wks along and I really want this pregnancy to work out. So here's my question:

Should I ask to not lift heavily for awhile and should I request not to be near those with infections? And should I get a doctor's order to support this? Should I HAVE to get a doctor's order? (I mean, I work with nurses! They should know that a pregnant woman shouldn't be around MRSA!)

Thank you so much!

Get the paperwork from the doctor. Most people are exposed to so much of this stuff they become desensitized to it problems.

Will your doctor consider putting you out on disability based on the 2 previous miscarriages?

There are Federal Laws and you have rights regarding pregnancy. Talk to your Dr. and even if your supervisor agrees with you about limiting your duties get the Dr to write out written orders as to what you can and can not do. This is for your protection.
Good luck this time around.

If you've miscarried before you should have the doctor write you some sort of note, seriously.. Don't risk it with this baby
