The point of living is to be in absolute control of your own life and to be completely in charge of your life. To express yourself without any limits. And most of all, to be a happy person and a good person despite all the things from church and religions might dictate you.
You were raised in baptist BY your parents? Obviously you are not in complete control of your own life. Your parents made you and roped you with their own regulations. Not yours.
Why you listen to the church? Church is only a building with a society contains of sinners and adulterers who feel better than the others base on what they believe inside and judge others will go to hell while they surely think that they will go to Heaven. Nothing more nothing less. Even the priest himself is love to sin in his head and you never know what his personal life looks like, don't you?

I have researched this a lot for my philosophy class and what made the most sense to me is what Aristole said. Most of the things you do in life are means to an end. The end is your goal, short or long term and means is the method you use to accomplish that goal. And the final and ultimate end is happiness. Doesn't this make sense? Isn't that what we are all searching for? A happy life?

The point to MY life is watching my daughter grow up and being happy.. balanced with a secret life of philosophical contemplation (the little conversations we have with ourselves, mine are about epistemology and such)
I hope YOU find what gives your life some meaning... Good luck

When you can't satisfy your own life, satisfy another's life. When you have nothing else to live for, live for the fact that you can ALWAYS help others in some way. I've learned to believe that it always gets better. I might take months, Its might take years. But it does get better. I promise. Just have to keep holding on.

I know it may at first sound ridiculous; but, it makes sense!
Why let yourself suffer pain when you can inflict it on other people!
Live to hurt those around you.

I believe we all have to find our own reasons for living. The pain part seems to remind us that we are alive.
