Yes in a free society it should be. Our constitution supports this. Our founding fathers intended for everything to be legal that dose not interfere with a persons rights. NO, I would not, and could not ever have anything to do with a prostitute. Yet there are many things in this country that are legal that I would have nothing to do with, whether for moral reasons or otherwise. But that dose not mean that they should be illegal because of my values. That would be enforcing my morality on others and that is not what our constitution or our founding fathers intended this country to be. As matter of fact, no vise activity should be under the scope of the law. But as you know, we do not live in a free country any more.

The only down side to legalizing prostitution would be a possible moral one. But there have and will always be prostitution so we should at least make it safe.

You can tell a persons level of intelligence when they say legalizing it will lead to more cases of HIV/AIDS. Legalizing it would mean the government would have control over regulating it, thus prostitutes could be forced to take test every few weeks (like they do in the porn industry), thus it would slow the spread of HIV and AIDS.

We are a free people. We can try to make a moral stand and saying that sex for money is wrong. But there is no law that says two people must be married to have sex. There is no law that says two people have to be in love to have sex. Two adults strangers can have sex once and never see each other again, and that is 100% legal. But if money exchanges hands it is a crime. There is nothing else in our country that it is legal to do for free but if you charge to do it you can go to jail.

There always has been prostitution, there always will be prostitution. All legalizing prostitution would do is shut down the black-market back-alley prostitution rings (and a lot of crimes associated with it).

There is a good argument for it being legalized and inspected.

BUT

The people who are in a position to do that have the use of prostitutes of a much higher quality than the common street-walker, and don't want to deal with the screaming of the moralistic minority, so they won't consider it. Works well in countries where it has been legalized.

HAHAHAHAHA

All those papers that hookers will carry around saying that they're free of disease will be sold for $50 bucks, and you sick bastards will be sticking your peckers in HIV infected women.

And then giving them money!

Ooooh, this is great stuff!

It'll cut down on sex crimes. Now instead of hookers getting beaten, the johns will just die of a long painful disease. And since they think they screwed a clean hooker and haven't started to deal with the symptoms of AIDS, they'll go home and pass it on to their wife!

Boy, you guys are so.. .what was that word? CIVILIZED. That's it!

It is legal in most of Nevada. They do regulate what acts (no anal) are permissible and require medical check ups frequently for the women and use of condoms for every act, even oral. Of course the brothel and the pros have to pay income tax and employment tax. Safer than risking getting beaten up by her pimp, robbed and left for dead in a dumpster.

No. The left has given Big Brother the power to interfere in every aspect of our lives, to pass restrictive laws "for our own good". You can ban prostitution, but you can't make it go away. It thrives amongst our legislators, too.

It is not clear how it would cut down on the divorce rate, except that it may be harder for one's wife to catch on. The thought in itself is just sick.

People like you are, unfortunately, an advocate for what the World Health Organization are saying will be the # 3 cause of death in a few more short years.

free people or whatever but what about the ethics involved and tell me...how would it cut down on divorce or sex crimes? bars and drinking is legal but neither me or my husband participate in those activities why would i want him to participate in going to a whore house just cause its legal...dont get married if you still want other girls in your life. if your wife wont do a certain sex act then you married the wrong person. here is a different aspect...would you want your daughter to work as a prostitute knowing what sort of guys would be doing to her and thinking of her so lowly...now would you still really want prostitution to be legal? hope not...if you do you are either lying or are just a sick fu c k

Just ask the Supreme Court. They'll probably tell you that it is a constitutional right.
