One could argue those opponents of bribery in the business context are preaching cultural imperialism. Do you agree?..if so why?

Without a moral judgment imposed, bribery is a means of spreading power around the society. It does give an advantage to those who have money, but, they already have that anyway. To suppress it can be described as a kind of imperialism, for any suppression narrows the expression of people in society. We tend to use rules for this, as it could degenerate so far that you couldn't drive down the street without having to bribe someone to get by. However, in societies that have many rules, you still end up having to pay many people, like bankers, and insurance companies a kind of bribe to get by, so bribery has just been organized by a certain group, who then turn around and say no one else can do it too. So I think the answer is yes to your question.

1) Bribery is common in many societies. So is murder. That doesn't make them right.
2) You could argue cultural imperialism, but I reject that argument. Some things are objectively wrong. Bribery is 1 of them.

bribery and manipulation are used by average people in everyday situations all the time. It's not something new or extraordinary. So why is it strange to think that people with great power don't use these techniques to get what they want?

Corruption is ALL OVER -- you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back.
I.e. if a Judge goes light (very light ) on a spoiled brat relative of a senator. Then mabye the senator could possibly write a letter of recomendation to an Ivy league school for the Judge's granddaughter. So forth and so on it goes on all of the time in my oipinion.
