So you can stay out of jail, take care of yourself and have a fruitful life and sense of well being. So is this opposed to a no disciplane society, we're fast moving there, if we cannot discipline our self the government can, and we will merely be a number. I think our social security number is really "The Beast" mentioned in the Bible.

This is a world spinning around two centers: Faith and Technology. Discipline (whether imposed by others or ourself) allows us to function successfully in both realms.

Without discipline, the journey of the faithful will fail to bring them to the quality of life and afterlife promised by Faith. Without discipline, the use of technology will sap our resources and exploit those around us beyond the technology's ability to sustain our environment, and disrupt our relationships with others with conflicts beyond our control.

;-D Moderation, wisdom, peace, brotherhood, kindness, acceptance, love... what other path would you choose? Discipline is a necessity.

Discipline, not to be confused with punishment. I assume you are refering to self-discipline. Self-discipline is necessary, not only to keep us from going the wrong way and doing the wrong things, but it is necessary for us to go the right way and to do the right things. As much as possible, we should do those things which are good for our spiritual well-being as well as avoid those things which are bad for our spiritual well-being.
