It sounds like it could be sciatica. Two weeks ago I had some lower back pain, I drove home, and when I got out of my car I could barely walk. The pain radiated around my hip and down my leg; it was excruciating. It was sciatica. Sciatica is the result of the sciatic nerve being pinched. You should see your doc for evaluation because you could have a serious condition. But, there is a lot of info on the internet.

Sounds like a pinched nerve in that area. It could be something easy to take care of, like going to a chiropractor, or it may be something more serious like a herniated disc that is putting pressure on your nerves. I had 2 back surgeries last year because of the pain that was running down my leg. I actually let it go too long and ended up being paralyzed, which is what led to my first surgery.

Just go to a doctor and let him/her check you out. It's probably nothing serious but you don't want to chance it.

Have had similar problem and solved it with combination of exercise and yoga...specifically a yoga move called potted palm. If you are overweight you wont be able to do this move and I suggest diet and exercise are the best remedies for most conditions. Potted palm stretches your hips are relieves tension there. The first 10 times or so I tried it, I was miserable and it didnt seem to work but after I got used to it and learned to do it right I got rid of all my pain there.

Bursitis. It's no fun, very painful, but the good news is it can be treated. There is a link below
It could be sciatica too. Only a doctors visit can tell you for sure, but with the way it is intermittant I would guess bursitis as it sounds just like the pain I have.

Without seeing you or seeing x-rays of the hip/leg there is no way someone can have a clue what is going on. You need to see the doc and get this checked out.
