Once you have your voucher, there is a list that the Housing Authority can give you. In addition, you can look in a renters guide and call the apartments you are interested, and ask the manager if they accept section 8. That is what I did. It takes a little work, but is well worth it. If you find a place, and they want to accept it (it is guaranteed payment for the government's share each month), they can contact your caseworker and find out how to get on the list.

Best wishes.

im not sure bout pheonix but in l.a you just go to your local housing authority office, section 8 area and ask for a list booklet that have available apartments in your area. but that's if you've already gone through the entire process and have your voucher already.
