I was wondering as we approach the 26th anniversary of John Lennon's murder why did the guy who shot and killed him do it, I only wonder beacause I was a few days shy of being one so i never really found out why it happened?

I heard that he was a big John Lennon fan and he hero idolized him and then he saw an interview with him at his estate in England and was disillusioned by how John Lennon owned this big estate yet was singing about no possesions, etc. He also had a mental illness that overdid his feelings.

If I remember correctly, Lennon wouldn't give the person his autograph. I don't know why. The guy followed Lennon home, or found his home later. I think he waited for Lennon to step out of his house, and when he did, he shot him.
