Thesafetytool.com is a home page hijacker that is installed by a trojan called Zlob which masquerades as media codec. You probably tried to watch some video clip and were directed to download the fake codec, after which the trojan infected your PC. To remove it, download and scan your PC with SpyNoMore, it seems to be the most accurate program in detecting zlob infections.

By the way it is not free, but then again you should really question any so-called free solution. Isn't that how your computer got infected in the first place?!. The free scan will only check your system and show you the infections. If you choose to remove them, be prepared to pay.

You are going to have to do a System Restore to a previous date when thesafetytool wasn't on your computer. Windows XP takes snapshots of good comptuer figurations periodically. Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, then System Tools. Last entry, System Restore, click on that and follow the built in wizard that will take you to a calendar page showing you days it took snapshots. Choose a date when everything was fine, and it will do it's magic, hopefully unloading that program. Everything will not be lost if this pest installed it's self in the last few days. Best of luck.

Download the 2 free anti-spywares, whose links I have given, update them and run a full system scan with both, one after the other. They will detect the thing, and then you can choose to get rid of it or not.
