There is no good reason for Michigan to not play in the title game. Because no one wants to see a rout of Florida in the title game. We want to see a close game with Michigan-OSU.

The 2 best teams will be in the game.. Ohio State and Florida.. Floridas going and deserve to and here's why.....:
Offensive TD's Scored:
FLORIDA - 44
USC - 43
Michigan - 41
Average Yards per Play:
FLORIDA - 6.51
USC - 5.95
Michigan - 5.64
Top 25 Defenses Faced:
FLORIDA - 5
Michigan - 3
USC - ZERO
Losses to UNRANKED teams:
USC - 1
FLORIDA - ZERO
Michigan - ZERO
Losses to Top 15 teams:
FLORIDA - 1
Michigan - 1
USC - ZERO
So it must be a problem with our defense, you say?
Scoring Defenses:
FLORIDA is #4 Nationally (allowing 12.3 per game)
Michigan is #9 Nationally (allowing 14.6 per game)
USC is #13 Nationally (allowing 15.1 per game)
SO...
The University of Florida has scored more Touchdowns than USC or Michigan... gained more yards per play than USC or Michigan... all against much tougher defenses than those faced by USC or Michigan... and has a BETTER DEFENSE than USC or Michigan...
When did it become more important to earn these "style points" (buzz word for what a team that the media wants to put #2 has and a team that the media doesn't want to put #2 does not have, whatever it might be) than to play and beat good competition?

I pretty much agree with the other answers. It makes no sense to put the No. 2 team in the Big Ten in ahead of the conference champion of the toughest conference in the country. Florida's had a tougher road to get to where they are at. I just don't think UM should be rewarded just because they lost a close game to Ohio State. I'd rather see a team get rewarded for what they accomplished in the regular season.

people have made some real good points on here. like i said i would love to see a rematch, however at the same time Fl did when their conference. Mich did have a chance already to beat OSU and was unable to come on top. Its real tough though because FL and Mich are both really good teams. I think either team will be a good match for OSU. I am just glad USC is not going to be in the NC.

I think Florida deserves to play in the title game. Florida is 12-1 and has won the SEC, which I believe is the most rounded and challenging division in D-1 football (Big East a close second.)
The total W/L of teams Florida has played this season is 72-43.
Thats a .62608 win percentage...thats #1 in the NCAA in cumulative opposition.
The total W/L of teams Michigan has played this season is 77-47.
Thats a .62096 win percentage, thats #3 in the NCAA in cumulative opposition (I remind you about 1/3-1/2 of those 77 wins is with ND (#24 in Cumulative oppostion rankings) OhSt (#39 in Cumulative opposition rankings)and Wisconsin (#85 in cumulative opposition rankings))
In my opinion, Florida is 6-1 in competative games. (W's vs. Tenn, Kentucky, LSU, Georgia, SCar, and Arkansas - Loss vs Auburn.)
Again, in my opinion, Michigan is 4-1 in competative games. (W's vs. C.Mich, ND, Wisc, and PSU - Loss vs OhSt.)
A very long and detailed answer, but after USC lost today I wanted to know for myself who I thought really deserved to play Ohio St. in the Championship.
My opinion, Ohio St. vs. Florida in the National Title game.
Ohio St - 35 Florida 31

Why should Michigan not be there? There are plenty of reasons. Let's see...
They already lost to Ohio St.
They did NOT win their conference.
They beat no one of name value except Wisconsin.
There are the three major reasons.
Ohio St. versus Florida!!!!!

Because if they(Michigan) win then it would be a tie.. then what? Michigan lost to Ohio state and if Michigan wins to Ohio state...Its just not right. They would have to play again for a tie breaker. Michigan had there chance. I say we play Florida.

USC vs Florida...... i'm a Trojan fan, yet, to me it quite is a toss-up. Say what you will relating to the Trojans, yet they are coming returned next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days loaded returned, as is Florida. i understand USC loses Booty, yet they have Sanchez, and if he can no longer get it going they have 10-0 Mitch Mustain to take his place, and that they consistently have the protective muscle. i do no longer could say plenty extra desirable than TT Superman & Piercy approximately Florida, and next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days we will see if Emanual Moody comes returned to hang-out us (yikes). Win-lose-or draw, i might choose to make certain this tournament up. Oklahoma is going to be ideal there too, yet i for my area do no longer think of they're going to assend to the ideal. the element i do no longer choose to ensue, is what got here approximately this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days; injuries & upsets for all.

I only have one real answer to this and it is that I truly believe if you can't win your confrence you should not be able to play for the Nations Title. We already saw what happens in that event back in 2003.
