Let's troubleshoot. First click on the speaker icon in your System Tray (next to the time lower left corner). Make sure nothing is checked (muted), and the volume controls are midway up. No speaker icon? Ok, click on Start, choose Control Panel, then Sound and Audio Devices. a block will appear. Make sure under Device Volume, the sliding bar is in the middle, and Mute IS NOT checked. Below you will see Speaker Volume, click on Advanced, the sliding bars should be in the middle of the graph. Ok, let's say everything is set, still no sound. Unplug your speakers, and plug in a headset (even one to a CD player or MP3), and play something. If you can hear through the headset, and not the speakers, go shopping, you need new speakers. If you CANNOT hear anything, hold on. Now go back, click on Start, then RIGHT CLICK on My Computer, choose the last entry, Properties. Another block will appear called System Properties. Choose the Hardware tab, then Device Manager Button. You will see a list of all the hardware in your comptuer. If you see a yellow triangle with an exclamation point under the category Sound, Video and Game Controllers, something is wrong, don't freak. RIGHT CLICK on the thing that has the yellow triangle, and choose Properties from the bottom of the submenu. Choose Update Drivers. If it's a driver problem, it should fix it, everything is fine. If not, your sound card is shot, you will have to buy a new one from Walmart, or some electronics store. Sorry to be long winded, but this is the surest way to eliminate a if your speakers or sound card are faulty, or if the computer hickuped and lost your sound card driver. Best of luck.
