and i started my 35th week that wednesday. He scheduled me for my next appt on dec 14 which is 2 weeks. Shouldnt i be at 1 week appts by now b/c when i go on the 14th ill be 37 weeks. He didnt check for dialation or anything this past visit. Just checked the babies heartbeat. I've been having slight contractions, but nothing big yet. Just curious...

I was in the hospital at 32 weeks for a whole week for preterm contractions so my ob said i'd prob end up having the baby early which is why it seems odd to still be having 2 week appts.

I wouldn't worry too much unless you have specific concerns. If your pregnancy has been normal and healthy all along you should be fine at every two weeks so far, although after your next visit they will usually up you to once a week. Since you are not quite at 36 weeks yet that is probably why they scheduled it that way. But if you are concerned about it, give your ob a call and ask them why or ask for an extra appointment. Is this your first baby? If so, you may want to be seen more often since you may not be aware of all the signs and symptoms of early labor or potential problems...basically you don't know what "normal" is if you have never been through it! If you are uncomfortable with the length between visits, I would definitely ask about it, because the last thing you need right now is stress. Good luck with your delivery and your new baby!

My sister-in-law and I were both having weekly appointments by then. I thought every doctor did at that point, but I guess not.
And we were having weekly exams, too. You know, checking for dialation and effacement.
Could be that your doctor doesn't think there's even a chance that you'll go early, or he just chooses to wait until 37 weeks, and then start the weekly visits. Or it could've been an oversight. He might've meant to say 1 week, but said 2 and didn't notice.
I think that I would call on Monday and ask. If nothing else, it would make you feel better.
Good luck and congratulations!

General OB visit protocol is every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks. At or after 36 weeks, then it is every week thereafter. There is no need to do a cervical exam at 35 weeks, unless you are having regular contractions. Your appointment schedule sounds right to me.

Yes, I think you should be going weekly! This happened to me. I went to a breastfeeding class and the asked the RN's advice. She said to go upstairs immediately and tell the nurse to give me an appointment that week. I had to see a midwife instead of my doctor, but I was able to get the appoinment and get the group B strep test I needed. I would suggest you get an appoinment for this week, even if you have to see another doc/midwife.

The contractions you are having are most likely Braxton Hicks, sort of a labor warm up, nothing to worry about.
If this is your first baby you are more likely to deliver later than your projected date than before.
Try to relax as much as you can, you will need all the energy you can muster soon enough.

I would imagine you would be going to weekly visits now as well. Most docs start scheduling them weekly at 36 weeks. I'm really quite surprised that he didn't do an internal examination on you either...perhaps you can call and voice your concerns to one of the nurses? Maybe it was just an oversight...

I have a doc appointment on that day too....I would think that it was weird that your OB didnt check you for dialations knowing that you have already had problems with cramping and being that you are that far along...but hey I am not a doc so ....who knows...I am sure he has a good reason for whatever he is doing/thinking..good luck and CONGRATULATIONS
