SIDE QUESTION FIRST:
Actually in Islam, Allah is called the Lord of Many Worlds. So there is plenty of room for Muslims to believe in aliens.
Christians are still appearently having trouble with a non-geocentric universe. (Come on we ain't that special!)
Most astronomers say life on otherworlds in infinitely possible.
But intelligence?
Some proof of aliens could be the Red Rain in India incident.
U.F.O.'s and U.O.O.'s (Unidentified Orbiting Object-like the one NASA just delayed a landing for) are readily available in videos, but proving they are actual alien space craft, no matter how good the pictures, is arguementally impossible, they could just as easily be time travelers.
Personally, I believe Life is so common in the universe, that when we are able to properly identify it we will find it all over, even our own solar system.
Many believe that the first signs of intelligent alien "life" will be similar to Von Neuman Probes (Self Replicating Space Probes). Technically Life is any self replicating process, the definition of Life in Biology doesn't apply off earth, (i.e. Carbon, Water, Death, etc.)
I actually believe in stellar and gas giant beings too!

Proof of Aliens? My mother!
Tee hee...ok I'm kidding...sort of. I don't think she's from this planet though. She's a bit odd. Then again, what would that make me...?
Anyway, no it wouldn't hurt religion. Just because they didn't mention things in the Bible doesn't mean they weren't still possible. It was written at a time when they didn't have the scientific advances & technology that we have now. They wouldn't have been able to comprehend it. If God had started mentioning aliens, people would have freaked out! They freaked out enough as it was. Sometimes you have to reveal things to people gradually or in terms that they can understand.
I have an open mind about aliens. I believe it's possible. So much space out there it's mind-boggling. Could be something else living somewhere that we just don't know about on our little planet in our little galaxy...

The closest thing to proof of aliens would be UFO sightings and claims of alien abduction. But these are claims that can only be taken on faith and there is way too much room for doubt. According to Ockham's razor it makes more sense to believe the skeptical explanations, such mistaking weather balloons or dreamlike states, than it does to accept any of these claims at face value.
As for the probability that intelligent life could exist somewhere out there among the countless stars. While it may seem very likely, especially after looking at clear night's sky, it's only proof by ignorance.

This is a controversial subject among reputed scientist and futurologists .I remember having read that the U.S. government had enough proof and they made a book called BLUE BOOK for limited circulation among the highest rank in defence and government only . Even ,it is believed that they could capture one or two aliens and made some investigations-biological and scientific and they died. .Then there .is the SE TI project to track any signs from the extraterrestrials.
..
Now, : if it is proved that it is true there are aliens , then the whole structure and edifice built by organized religions will collapse and there will be total anarchy. .Now the fear in the minds of people about a supreme power-GOD deter them from such a state...

I think it likely. There is a preponderance of anecdotal evidence which appears to date back centuries. Add that to all the odd sightings and such that have appeared in the 20th century and you get a sense that 'something' is going on.
Do I think every UFO is an alien? No. But, I think there is most likely some presence keeping an eye on us.
As to the religion question; It might have an effect on some aspects of religious history. If ETs did visit Earth during crucial times in history, their actions may have been attributed to divine powers. However, I think the overall affect would be minor. I think it unlikely that ETs created and spread specific religions on Earth. Not impossible, just unlikely.

If someone could provide actual straight-up proof of aliens' existence, they'd rake in a fortune.
I think that most religions could accomodate the fact of aliens' existence, based on something along the lines of "yep, God created them too!"

Considering our limited knowledge of the universe, I'd say that's proof enough that aliens or other forms of life exist.
If they do exist, I don't think it hurts religion, but I do think it will force religions to take a step back and reconsider their stances on a few things.

Nope, no proof. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure any "proof" would be enough anyway. There will still be skeptics that say "It isn't true" even if aliens walked and shook their hands.
Hurt religion? No. Topple it a bit maybe but not permanently damage it.
