i know this friend who got suspended for selling drugs at school. I am his closest friend and i know for a fact that he isnt a continous dealer. He was helping out some friends. This kid had some Oxy... when he broke his leg. I know this is a bad thing to do but the other kids approached him, he wasnt "advertising" them around school. He is a good student with a "b" average and is involed in some sports. The school suspended him for 45-90 days! and the kids that bought them only got 5 days. Is this too harsh or am i just wacked.

Unlike the others, I don't think he should have gotten the death penalty for this. For a B student, your friend was incredibly stupid, but that doesn't mean he deserves to die.

I do think he should have been suspended, and the kids that bought them should have gotten the same time.

What I would like to tell you is this -- my husband has been in federal prison for 26 years. It's not like you see on TV, it's much much worse. Most federal prisoners are in there for drug crimes, like your friend. They tell you when to get up, when to eat, when to go to bed. The noise never stops. You don't have TVS and computers and all that crap that people assume.

I know of a young, skinny, totally defenseless dude in there on a 3-year drug charge (like your friend) who got gang-raped. Because there is only one doctor for 2000 men, this kid died. That's a fact. According to his parents, he wasn't a bad kid, but trying to be cool and impress some friends. Did he deserve to die because of trying to be cool? How long do you think your friend would last in prison? And who told on him? He's already learned a good lesson about snitches, at least. Is he ready to do time for one of them?

I know all about kids stealing their parents' medication, and selling their own medication. I know parents who have to lock up their meds. I know a terminally ill woman who is constantly barraged by street brats wanting her meds because they are very valuable on the street.

Is it worth dying over? Is it worth being raped night after night by five or six people stronger than you until you die from your injuries? Forget all that civil rights crap about suing or writing the head of the BOP. They already know this goes on. They're the ones who have the one MD for 2000 guys at an institution.

So tell your friend he's GD lucky that's all that happened, to straighten his a&& up.

Both of you check out my husband's web site, and tell me if you think living this way for 26 years is worth it. Tell him to respect himself and appreciate being in the free world.

Good luck to both of you.

Our school calls the police out for any suspected drug transactions. If the boy who brought the drugs was not turned in, he would not be punished as much. You have to be able to prove he had the drugs in order to be expelled.

By the way, anyone in our school system who has drugs in his/her possession is automatically expelled for the semester and must petition the school to be allowed to return the following semester.

It is definately not too harsh. Depending on how much he sold at one particular time, he probably should have gotten more. I used to mess with all that BS too, selling weed, getting into fights, vandalizing, and I had to learn the hard way. If that doesn't teach him, nothing will. Maybe he'll smarten up and sell to his friends outside of school.

No it wasn't too harsh on him, and maybe wasn't even harsh ENOUGH for the kids that bought the pills. It's illegal, morally wrong and dangerous to sell prescription drugs to other people!

No, it isn't too harsh at all. He should have been thrown out of school for good. Also, he should have been prosecuted, and I gather he wasn't. The school was being easy on him.

I think that your "friend" should take his time off and study on his own. And also reflect on how lucky he is that is not in jail. Because when your "friend" becomes of age and continues this path of selling or whatever. He will end up in jail and become a nice bride for some lucky guy. ---Think about it-------- friend.

I feel for your friend, man, but he really shouldn't have done that. Legally, that punishment is well within reason.

You are whacked. The cops should have been called, and he should have been prosecuted for all it was worth.
