How would you answer this question? Do you consider yourself a ‘good’ writer?

I have to answer this question for a class & am not sure what to say. I can write e-mails personal or business related. On the other hand I can NOT write a paper to save my life.

So any HELP would be appreciated.

You have already identified writing tasks that you feel you do well (two types of emails) and a writing task you have trouble with (formal papers). Let this contrast be the basis for your answer. As you explain your strengths and weaknesses, go ahead and make your best guess as to what it is that makes you a good email writer and a bad paper writer. Ask yourself what the differences are between emails and papers, and you'll end up with a better understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses.

I can almost guarantee you that there are no right or wrong answers for this assignment--it sounds like the purpose of this assignment is simply to get you thinking and talking about writing. Any thoughtful response should earn you a good grade.

You have to realize that most "good writers" do not just sit down and compose something, then send it off. Well, actually, they may, however, someone will edit it, rewrite sections, eliminate sections, etc..
So, I think it is likely that you do have the ability, you just need to do the rewrites, looking for errors, mistakes or mis-statements.
It takes practice. Work at it.
Your answer to the question? "Yes, I am a good writer in some areas, however, I know that there are areas in which I could demonstrate considerable improvement with the proper help and practice."

I believe I'm a good writer. I follow the rules of grammar, spelling and syntax. People can understand what I've written and what I meant when I wrote it, even if I'm not around to explain it to them. I can convey a concept through writing. I believe that I am a good writer.

I was recently asked that question. My answer was that I'm a decent writer, not great but pretty good. I explained where my strenghts and weaknesses were. Writing a paper isn't that hard, I'm sure you can do it.

I am older, and we were required to write lots of term papers when I was in English classes. I have also written many technical papers for my two degrees.

I feel that I am better equipped to write than many of my students. I find myself correcting their grammar and spelling as I grade their chemistry and physics papers.

I require a written paper each 9 week grading paper in all of my classes. This is to allow them to practice their writing as well as showing their command of the topic.

I am usually a great writer, I write poems and short stories- I think the key is in just writing down exactly what you would say outloud. Try recording yourself talking and then transcribe it.

Good writer is the one who is artistic in selection of words along with the proper use of grammetic trends to express his views and make someone to understand his thoughts. If anyone is able to do so then he is a good writer,and if this is applied on me then i am a good writer.

we do alot of "extended response" essays in school..and i consider a good essay writer..im also good in writing reports/research papers...but when it comes to writing books and poems...let's just say im not good at that...
