Failure.

& insects.

Fear is usually not justified. Insects can't really hurt me. Failure only hurts if I let it & actually there's no such thing as failure. Only temporary setbacks. You can always try again & maybe succeed. Most of the things we fear will either never happen or will not be anywhere near as bad as we expect. We are wired for fear. It was part of our survival mechanism: fight or flight. As we evolved from hunter gatherers (when fear came in handy because there may really have been a creature about to tear your throat out & you needed to be on high alert) our biology forgot to change with the times. Since there are not as many real threats, our bodies & minds invent perceived threats where there really aren't any. We develop irrational phobias (ok but bugs really are creepy so I don't think my phobia is irrational! Tee hee). Like the saying goes "There's nothing to fear but fear itself." Fear is crippling. It keeps us prisoner & prevents us from taking risks. Some fears can be justified (ok, maybe don't go swimming in shark infested waters. Maybe don't provoke someone who's carrying a gun etc) when they protect us from real danger. 9 times out of 10 though, the danger is only in our minds or is extremely exaggerated. We're a neurotic bunch, us humans...

I am pretty afraid of being chased and I'm not really sure why. No fear is not always justified. The technical definition of a phobia is an "irrational" fear of something.

I believe that fear is the delusion that some event or circumstance will occur in the future and God will not be present. Since that's not possible, fear is never justified, but is completely understandable until we can be so spiritually grounded as to realize that God is omnipresent and omnipotent and knows far better what is good for us than we do.

I'm most afraid of failing and letting myself and the people I care about down. I think that a small amount of fear is justified. Fear keeps us from doing stupid things, but it can also keep us from doing things that would be beneficial. We just have to know our selves and realize when we are letting our own fear keep us from succeeding.

Jigar states it beautifully. So true. Hmm.....that dude seems familiar to me. lol.

I'm most afraid of new situations with people...and people in general. Not afraid of people per se, but of expressing myself around people. So many situations make me self-conscious. I'm better than I used to be but I wish I could melt sometimes. This is just false perception of who I am. Identification with low self-image thoughts(clouds) rather than recognizing the space(sky) that i truly am. But still it persists.......

I don't know if fear is always justified but in some cases it's natural. If a bear breaks into my house right now, fear is natural. It's a bodily response to danger. Hey...what's that nnnnoise at my dddoor???? lol.

(Hey. nothing up too much here. looks like we both took a long break from YA. glad to be back and make contact with ya again. Thought u may have changed your name again! lol).

fear is never justified.

its born out of a notion that the self is either destructible or that something can be lost. neither is true.

the spirit is indestructible... and what can be lost is just an illusion!

there's a saying in the east...that you have to let go of everything and then what you have left would be your true possession!

I am afraid of people (shyness and social phobia)

I am afraid of myself (what will I do next?).

I think my fears are justified - they belong to me, they are a part of me and sometimes, they are so true, too true.

Spiders and being alone. But I think that fear is just a lack of understanding.
