Just wondering, regular coffee doesn't seem to have the "same" effect.

Registered Nurse here; Yes it's the caffeine, espresso does contain more caffeine than a regular cup of coffee, also it's not just the caffeine, but the caffeine combined with the warmth of the liquid, this stimulates peristalsis, which in turn makes one trot to the restroom. Some people are more sensitive than others, for instant I can have one cup of espresso and I'm on my way doing the caffeine trot. My sister on the other hand can drink 3 or 4 and not trot at all. LOL

Caffiene is a stimulant.
That is why your bowels are moving. espresso is a more consentrated form of coffee bean. if you are drinking allot of this, follow up with water, dont want to get dehydrated.

Its the caffeine....expresso is a very strong form of coffee, loaded with caffeine. The caffeine is enough to cause you to move your bowels....You could have the same effect by drinking several cups of regular coffee.
