Hi folks,

Nearing the end of Day 3 in Adelaide and Ponting is trundling along.
But is this 2 Test more than likely to end in a draw?

Scenario One: Aus bowled out for less than 352. Follow on. Bowled out for 300. England chase small total and win.

Scenario Two: Aus save follow on but fall 150 behind. England score a quick 240 and set Aus 390 to win. Aus bowled out for < 390. England win

Scenario Three: Aus bat well tomorrow and are 80 short. England settle for Draw and match peters out on Day 5.

Scenario Four: Gilchrist and Clarke, Warne and Lee go Bananas tomorrow and score 150 before lunch and a further 90 or so before declaring in the second session. England struggle on wearing pitch and are 75-5 at close tomorrow and all out for 150 by lunch on Tuesday. Aus get the runs in a run chase on Tuesday afternoon to go 2 up in series!

Although I am an Australian cricket fan, I appreciate watching a good match. I have enjoyed watching England challenge us and have a real go in this Adelaide test. Their batting has improved enormously, they were patient and waited for the right balls to hit. Hoggard bowled extremely well on day 3 and the wickets of Ponting and Hussey were huge late in the day. The other English bowlers could have afforded to attack a bit more with some bouncers. Having said that, the Aussies have a strong batting lineup and are very tough to bowl at. The 2nd Test looks certain to be a draw unless England can turn on some magic and bowl the Aussies out before lunch tomorrow. Great to see Ponting make his 33rd test century. The man is a champion !!

may be a draw is possible but if england can wipe out the lower order early in the morning session and leave a lead of say at least 150 then try to build a lead of up to at least 350 by the end of the fourth day, then a win is very much possible on this track.

Depends very much on tomorrow morning.
Hoggard is bowling superbly but needs back up and if Harmison cannot provide it then he must lose his place for the next test the Mahmood.
I doubt if Giles will exploit this wicket in their first innings so again in my mind we must mahe a change next test regardless of the outcome and pick Pannasear.
Thet other change I would make for the third test is Chris Reid instead of GeraInt Jones. Reid made very good runs in the championship and deserves a run at test level

Yes it is almost sure that this test is heading for a draw but i think that it is kind of a moral victory for english, when they were flatened in the 1 innigs of the 1st test ..we all felt sory...but after this test the english are back and we can hope for the replay of he last ashes

As it stands now, the match will end in a draw unless ofcourse Australia crashes giving substantial lead to england.

They never took the wickets when they had the advantage, But at least things are looking a little brighter for England.

if i was ponting, i would be playing for a draw. at least if it's a draw, then australia will still have the advantage.
