Four. Because it didn't feel like a goofy kids movie like the first two, and it wasn't directed by an annoying director like the third one.
(was that mean? sorry.)
Actually, I liked the whole look and feel of the fourth one. I felt like the actors really matured, and the darker feel (following along with the books) was captured just right.

The first and fourth ones have been the best so far. I loved the first because Chris Columbus did such a great job introducing us to Harry Potter's world that is like a hidden room in someone's house, it may be there but only the chosen few know how to get there.
And Mike Newell did such an awesome job on the fourth movie of moving it out of the realm of children's movies into a more grown up type of film. I think he absolutely made the right decision in going for a PG-13 rating because anyone who reads the books knows that they are only getting more and more violent and frightening. This film, having already had the world introduced, really succeeds in showing a Harry who's growing up as well as having to take on more life threatening challenges.

I would have to say that I enjoyed the first movie the most because it was the books coming to life....
However after that, I kept comparing the movies to the books and it just kept going down hill.
I hated the fourth movie the most because it didn't even develop Sirius's character which is the whole point of the fourth book.
so when "fluffy" dies in the fifth one, it won't be as traumatic because we don't connect with "fluffy" as much.
[ i said "fluffy" cuz i don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read the fifth book]

The first one is still my favorite, just because it was new and I got to see everything I read about in the book up on the big screen. I remember thinking that Professor Snape was exactly as I pictured him. The third book was my favorite, though, so I liked that movie too.

I liked Goblet of Fire. I may have a small biased based on the fact that Goblet was my favorite book, but I was so disappointed with Prisoner of Azkaban that I expected Goblet of Fire to be a total bomb and it wasn't. I think it is easier to say that Prisoner was my least favorite and why than to pick a favorite. If anyone would like my views on prisoner, just ask. I will not take more of your answer space on my soapbox that doesn't answer your question. Anyway, thanks for the question.

i like the sorcerer's stone because it kept true to the book the most, but they keep getting better as movies as they move forward and the characters mature. ps the cast is incredible-especially the teachers.
