I'm assuming you are talking about an automatic transmission, since neutral is where you put a manual transmission when stopped.

With an automatic, you can do serious damage to the transmission if you bump it into neutral while coasting. It may not show up right away, but, ultimately you will destroy your tranny.

I would imagine it could save you a very small amount of money in gas, but it will cost you much more than the savings could ever amount to. Do you know what it costs to have a modern auto trans rebuilt? It's not pretty.

Neutral when stopped does nothing but take longer to get going on the green light.

Neutral while coasting saves very little gas, and wears out your brakes faster. gas is easier to replace than brakes.

NO, but the transmission gets a breather when you are FULLY stopped. While coasting... you're an idiot to do that! In case you lose your brakes, you can slow the car with the gears engaged, but not on Neutral.

Anytime you reduce engine load you save gas.

So, yes it should if it is an automatic.

If a manual - you are extending the life of the thrust bearing in your engine by not riding the clutch.

in case you probably did not attempt to initiate the engine, then the gas gadget doesn't favor cleansing, purely the tank must be drained. in case you even placed the major into the "ON" position and it kicked contained in the gas pump then the gadget as a lot because the gas rail must be wiped clean. in case you tried to initiate it, then each and every thing needs cleansing.
