Surely the same forces that forged the stars, shaped the forms of individual humans. Why are we so indifferent towards them?

Have we forgotten our sense of awe?

Actually I go out of my way to speak to or smile at any person that I come within passing distance of. I usually get friendly responses back but sometimes do not, but that is okay. I was raised to be friendly and I just think that it is common courtesy to speak to the people we come in contact with everyday. I often wonder when I come in contact with someone and a friendly hello leads to a conversation, what was God's purpose for me meeting this person? It baffles me, why out of all of the human beings on the planet, do we come in contact with the ones that we do. Why is this professor, store clerk, elderly stranger etc. in my life right now? What will this encounter teach me about myself? I know that sounds like a stoner's inquisition, but surely being that everything that we see or do is permanently stored somewhere in our brain, there is some divined lesson in every encounter. We'll figue it out someday.

I agree, sometimes I say hi to people and never get an answer..after a while I feel awkward saying anything..I think maybe they have too much on their minds?

When we became urbanized we had to look the other way or we would go crazy trying to understand the inequity of everyday life.

I've learned that we've forgotten to acknowledge others due to lack of acknowledge received on our behalf. Example, stranger says Hi How are you? Me: *blink blink* "Do I know you?"

Well...some people you just ignore because even if you see them every day its not like you KNOW them, thus you have no reason to pay them any mind.

I prefer to observe them from affar. They're annoying if you get up close.
