Is a bird in the hand really worth two in the bush. Is having ONE great thing equal to two two great things that you don't have? Tell me or show me a scenerio, I am having a hard time following that one...

It is all about a psychological game. The above statement indicates that we should not chase those things which we can not accomplish. it is a wastage of time. one should be focused and should be centered towards his or her aim.
mine intuition is saying that the statement is true some how. i prefer to be a specialist rather an an all rounder. but i suggest that if you have capability of doing everything in a small life, if you are capable enough to find everything with devotion and hard work, then there is nothing wrong about to dream two great things instead of confining your vision in one particular object.
Indeed, here is a condition, you have to thing logically, need to put efforts, require to take risk- risk of life, future, personal and professional future

It doesn't matter how great the other things are if you don't have them. Be grateful for what's right there in front of you (hand), rather than chasing things you can't see (in the bush)

you may not actually catch the birds in the bush, you may end up with nothing, it is better to take the sure thing, the bird in your hand

It means having one thing in your possession is better than the prospect of 2 things which you don't have in your poseession.
