now that records no longer get made, maybe they are considered antiques and are sold as such. All they ever mass produce now are cds and such. sad but true

Because the market will bear such asking prices. A record player is a classic and a relic......people are willing to pay more for them.

They not are considered for mass appeal. Plus they are considered obsolete. They still make them, but only a select group of people buy them anymore. It is like anything else, if they get mass appeal they get cheap and parts are easy to come by. If parts are hard to find then they get expensive.
