In order to answer this question, I think we need more information. What kind of medication? What kind of job are you looking at?

I have back problems. It seems to act up a couple times a year. I either take ibuprophin or naproxen to help ease the pain. It has never been a problem. If I were to take Vicoden or another narcotic, then there would be a problem.

That shouldn't be a problem.
If you have to take a urine drug screen before starting work, your pain meds will most likely show up, and they will call you on them.
The point is that you have a perscription and a legit reason for taking them. They usually don't even tell your future employer, their job as a 3rd party company is to test you for illegal substances. If you can give them the phone number to your doctor or your pharmacy so they can verify your perscription, it won't be a problem.
I was taking Lortab for pain, and they called me and specifically told me that it's not a fail on the test . . . it's only going to prevent your work IF you are taking unprescribed medications.

It has been a while since I filled out a job application, does it say on there if you are on any medications?
If it doesn't don't tell them (if it is a huge company, tell them if it is a mom and pop place). If you are able to work while on them...and you have a prescription from your doctor.

Otherwise how else are you going to feed your family?

As long as you are getting them from a doctor that will vouch for you I think you will be fine. I doubt they will let you drive heavy machinery or anything though.

probably depends on the job, if you have back problems and their is heavy lifting involved in the job they will consider that, plus thats not gonna help you back either
