And I'm defining discrimination this way: "unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice" (see google define).

What an interesting way this question was formed because some of the first answers were about race. I'm glad that others who have experienced discrimination on a non-racial level put their comments in so that people can see it is NOT always ab out race. We need to step aside and look at more important things - how people with disabilities are treated, how unfair people are treated because of their sexual orientation, etc. This is something to focus on instead of that age old crap that will never go away.

Yes.

When I lived in Wales, I had a teacher who was anti-American. She'd make unacceptable comments, etc. and I had to take it because she was an adult and I was just an American 9 year old. We had an assignment about Welsh history and I got the highest grade...but she point-blank said a Welsh kid should be the one chosen to read their paper at an assembly. Stuff like that.

When the non-Welsh kids got high grades, she would tell the Welsh kids that she'd be ashamed if she was one of them and had foreigners doing better.

Obviously this doesn't compare to the horrible discrimination experienced by others, but it was an eye opener for a white, blond-haired, green eyed male. It helped me see why certain conduct and remarks are so damaging to morale.

Yes. I am discriminated a lot of the time do to having a disability. It is frustrating and it makes me angry. Yes there are times when I can't do what the next person may do, but that same person may not stop and think they can't do what I can do. I suffer from a Mental Illness as well as physical disabilities as well. People sometimes forget to look past the outside core and see what is inside.

This is really nothing compared to what the gays, blacks, Jewish & other groups have faced but I have CP & I really don't have much use of my left hand, it is very noticable. When I was walking in a store I bumped into someone they saw my hand & said "Oh God is that contagious?"

Yes, most people have at one time or another, for their religion, their race, their disabilities, their size, their sexual orientation. their are so many ways to discriminate, it makes you wonder who is left to do the discriminating?

I think we all have. In one way or another.

But here' s an example. I was talking to this black guy once about my taste in music (that I like rap for one) and just some of my ideas about race. He said that he was surprised because I'm from a small southern town. Haha, I'm suposed to listen to country music and hate all black people.

I said, "You shouldn't judge people before you get to know him."

it's funny becuase i've seen mostly that white people are considered the biggest racists. well, i went to a mostly hispanic middle school and i'm a very white male. so at this school whites were the minority and therefore i was constantly insulted and beaten upon because i didn't fit the hispanic image. because i was white.

Hell yes, and so has every human that has walked this planet. But the difference is I make a choice to either ignore it or knock them on their ***. I don't crusade, march on Washington, or demand restitution from the government. Why don't you cry baby's grow up and be adult.
