sleeves? fingerless, handless gloves?
My neice used to cut the arms off sweaters that were too small and cut a hole for her thumb and slide em on...looked pretty cool with her goth/punk look she had going on for a while. Now she's got the rockabilly/pin up girl thing going on.

They're called arm warmers. You can get thick socklike cotton ones at the mall, and nice lace or satin ones online. (I've always made mine out of tights.)
