When i was that age my favorite PC games were all BACKYARD SPORTS games. They were pretty big when i was young. They had Backyard Soccer, Football, Baseball, and Hockey. They even had professional athletes in the games. I'm not sure if they still make them but they are really fun and parents would not have to monitor them as they play since they are kid-friendly.

look for game swith animals and a lot of bright colors and cute music.try www.americangirl.com.it is great i know this because i baby sit and most of the kids dont want to stop playing the games.especialy the pets on the net games.to get to it go to the site map section and scroll down.i wouldent suggest toon town.i have played it and some of it is offensive and it has a bit of violencs.the fact that you can sray people with water or drop safes on there head is not a good idea to put in a childs mind.boys may also liketo play things with destruction in it but try to prevent that

I disagree with the video game route. I am concerned that we are raising a generation of video zombies.
Try to persuade your nephew to read, by going to either Borders or Barns and Noble and get him some age appropriate books to read. Harry Potter is the first to come to mind. Very entertaining reading for kids and adults alike. And these books are thick, thus they will occupy him for hours and hours on end.
Video games don't do a damn thing to expand the horizons of a child's mind. In fact, I am suspicious that they are working to do the exact opposite, to shut down a child's mind to all but basic visual stimulation, and mindless hand reflexes. How is this helpful to child development? It can't possibly be.
Books teach kids in very subtle ways. Kids who read books are more likely to be both well spoken with much larger vocabularies than kids who do not read and generally do better in school than kids who don't read.
So that's my pitch....limit the video game access and bury the little guy in tons of interesting reading material. He won't be bored, and it will pay big dividends later.

It isn't very expensive, you sign up for a certain time frame.
My son LOVES this game!
Very sweet and non-violent compared to most games today.
