I know someone that doesn't like animals, is this strange?

I once had a psychology professor who advised his female students not to date men who didn't take care of animals or plants.
I had a boyfriend who didn't like dogs. He was unreliable and emotionally detached. Few friends.
My fiance loves dogs and is reliable, self-aware and a healthy amount of self-confidense.

Yes, I would consider it strange. Most of the people who don't like animals have no time for people either, or they are afraid of the animals or else they are neat freaks and dislike having to clean up after any animals.
The real people that you have to worry about though, in my opinion, are the people that animals don't like. Those people would scare me to be around, because an animal's intuition is beyond our comprehension.
If my dog doesn't like someone, I am wary of them, because I think that he is a better judge of character than I am.

People who did not grow up with them and learn how special an animal can be. I've had animals all my life and my parents taught me to love, respect, and take care of them. I have many friends that did not have that and don't care for animals in the least.
Other people that do not like animals are typically afraid of them. I personally can't understand it, because I am a big time animal person.
It's sad but true, there are many people that will never experience the happiness that an animal in your life can bring.

Has nothing to do with the type of person. They come is all colors, sizes and backgrounds (cultural and class types)
Some people raise their children to respect animals and properly care for their pets.
Other parents tell their kids basically do anything you want. "They have no soul anyway" These people grow up being annoying animal haters. And the amount of money they have makes no difference.

Yes, it's strange. I've never met someone who didn't like any animals - I know some who do not like specific animals, but not the whole animal kingdom....

I just can't understand people who aren't into pets/animals. It's in your up-bringing though. My parents are animal-lovers and have always had pets. I love animals too and can't stand hearing about people abusing them.
On the flip side though, I've been hunting for small rodents and wild rabbits. Although I think the rabbits are cute, I can still use them as target practice. But that might just be my military instincts letting me do that.

In my experience, most people who do not like animals due to either:
-fear for their safety or
-concern for cleanliness
By contrast, animal lovers have different experiences and different priorities. Most of them have overcome fear of animals through experience, and would rather engage the animal out of fun or curiosity rather than worry about dirtiness.

Most people who are allergic to some types of animals tend to stay away from them.
It is not strange because its a personal choice.You cant call some one weird because their different.

People who don't like animals are a group of evil flesh eating aliens from Pluto. They look and act like humans, but if you look real close, you can see the broom handle sticking out their butt! Look out, you may be next on the dinner menu!!!!! lol.
