I.E Puerto Rico.
Also.. what criteria must a state have to be admitted?

I'm doing a research paper, I need all the help I can get. Any good sites about how states become states.. what criteria it takes to become a state.. should more states be added, IE Puerto Rico.. problems it'll cause, etcetc.. Thanks!

they hve to be
1.english speaking and an anglo majority
2. small population or very weak national or native identity
3. be an incorporated territory of the US (first step for statehood)

Puerto Rico does not meet any of those criteria since it is spanish speaking latins with it's own strong culture, has a strong national identity,has a whopping 4 million population and it is not an incorporated territory, it is unincorporated and self governing.

They would be out side the continental USA. Alaska and Hawaii are enough. Distance makes them much like colonies and with very different problems. Everylaw passed by federal government effects all states, And government tend to focus on problems in continent USA Sometimes focus seems to be in the East. certainly wasn't on New Orleans.

States propose to Congress and then Congress votes.
Yeah, more states could be added to the union to benifit more.
Problems would be education(teaching governement....) the voting system might be different, police(and other branches) military

States are ratified after they are stolen from the natives that live there.

The only problem it creates is that a lot of flags need to be replaced :-)
