OK WHEN you clean out the dust DO NOT USE A VACUUM!!! it will damage your PC. you can use a vacuum to suck yo the dust but ONLY rest the hose on the side of your PC then use a can of air or air compressor that's is not above 40PSI to blow the dust out and let the vacuum suck the dust out of the air. if you put your vacuum into the PC the suction Willl create static from the movement of air and it wil damage your PC. ALSO so not let any of the fans spin when you blow air on them. if they do it can cause the fans to burn out and you'll have to replace them. if it keeps making the smell bring it into your local geek squad precinct ASAP so we can repair your PC before it causes a fire or major damage to the system

You might be encountering over heat processors or you might end up bloating up capacitors. The supply of voltage in your board might be a lot higher than the normal. This is caused by some small components or electrical wire that hits the board or your power supply. If still does not work, try consulting your nearest computer technician. Ok? Look at what denbronco09 said about the "power box" - if the burning smell is somewhat sweet, it could be your power supply going out. That's what happened to my old computer almost two years ago.

If it's a laptop, it's probably one of those fun exploding batteries. Turn it off, remove the battery, and take it to a computer shop immediately (or when one opens).
It if your regular computer, it could be a LOT of bad things. Turn it OFF, unplug it, take it to a computer shop immediately (or when one opens).
Turning it off is the #1 thing to do, even if you really want to be on the internet right now.

Hi. First turn it off! Then open the case and clean out the dust accumulation. Make sure all fans are clean and working. Consider adding more fans. Hope this helps.

Turn it off obviously.
Probably something wrong with the power box though. Leave it off for a while to let it cool off then turn it back on and see if it happens again.

1. turn it off
2. check if anything is blocking the air vents
3. clean it thoroughly with compressed air
4. Re-start and see if you solved the problem
5. If not, maybe you need to get a new computer, or get yours serviced

shut it off compeltly. where is it smelling? if it's the CPU get someone to go look at it. you don't want the CPU damged. but, if it's the monitor mess around to see what you can do but if there is not much you can do get a pro to come a take a look.

Try to get the dust out of the fan area. You can use the air in a can or try vacuuming.
